Cub Jack is a writer and editor, who was raised in the heart of Philadelphia. This East Coaster can proudly name the locations used in shows like “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” and movies such as “The Sixth Sense.” He’s a proud city guy who has also called New York, Miami, and Fort Lauderdale home. He says his parents had him super late and they retired soon after he was born. As a result he knows more music and movies of the 40s and 50s than of the 80s.
He came to Portland two years ago, fulfilling a lifelong dream to live in the Pacific Northwest. He's traveled a good bit, spending the most time in France, Italy, and Switzerland. In his humble opinion, Cub Jack thinks Swiss guys are the hottest. One of the reasons he loves Portland is because it reminds him of Zürich, especially the mountains and the streetcars. He hopes his next big trip will be to see a friend in India.
His favorite hobbies are reading, writing, exploring Portland, watching Netflix, and cooking. David Sedaris, Edmund White, Henry James, and John Irving are some of his favorite writers. Cub Jack loves foreign and classic films while the TV he enjoys tends to be related to history or dark humor. True to Cub Jack’s Italian heritage he loves making Sunday sauce with meatballs, and pairing them with a good strong red wine. He can also make boeuf bourguignon a la Julia Child without the recipe. However, don’t ask him to make a grilled cheese sandwich, which always burn, no matter what he does!
Cub Jack has worked as a bartender, caterer, personal assistant, housekeeper, and research assistant. He's worked with a college professor by going through his library preparing documents for donation to a local non-profit, and helped clients consolidate things from antiques to clothing. Always curious to learn more about people, he makes and keeps friends easily. Still excited to be new to the Pacific Northwest, there’s tons of people and places he wants to experience.
